Nicholas Uilk named Klingbeil Endowed Educator in Precision Agriculture

Nicholas Uilk was recently named the inaugural Klingbeil Endowed Educator in Precision Agriculture at South Dakota State University. Shortly after graduating from SDSU with his bachelor’s degree in agricultural systems technology in May 2008, Uilk completed his Master of Education degree in August 2011.

Sunish Sehgal honored by Wheat Quality Council two years in a row

Sunish Sehgal, associate professor and SDSU winter wheat breeder, was honored by the Wheat Quality Council with the 2023 Millers Choice Best of Show Award for the second consecutive year. The honor annually recognizes the wheat breeder of the variety that is most well-liked by U.S. millers participating in the WQC’s evaluation program.

James Connors named associate dean, academic programs director for College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences

James Connors has been selected to serve as the new associate dean and director of academic programs for the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at South Dakota State University. His appointment will begin Aug. 22.

SDSU’s Dakota Lakes Research Farm to host field day June 29

South Dakota State University’s Dakota Lakes Research Farm will host its annual field day June 29. The field day will begin at 3 p.m. (CST) and run until dark. Two field tours will be offered, with each lasting roughly 1 1/2 hours and each running twice. Visitors will have the opportunity to attend both tours.

Jennifer Zavaleta Cheek, an assistant professor in the Department of Natural Resource Management, worked with research teams to collect diet data from women in two rural districts in eastern India to determine the contributions wild foods had on their diets.
