SDSU Rodeo

Jackrabbit Rodeo - A Winning Tradition

South Dakota State University's Rodeo Program has a rich history of rodeo alumni dating back to the first club meeting held in the livestock pavilion (now Ag Heritage Museum) in 1952.  The first meeting had over 50 club members in attendance and that number has increased since.  SDSU's Rodeo Club now has over 70 members and is one of the largest clubs on campus.  It is made up of competing rodeo team members and other rodeo enthusiasts that enjoy helping with practices and the annual Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo.   The club is affiliated with the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, which is represented on more than 200 college and university campuses throughout the United States.

The rodeo team has indoor and outdoor practice facilities, scheduled practices, practice stock for every event, a full time coach devoted only to rodeo, scholarship opportunities, travel reimbursements for the top 6 men/women, and limited boarding for horses.  SDSU is also centrally located in the Great Plains region and has some of the shortest driving distances to the regional college rodeos during the season.

Most importantly every SDSU rodeo team member has a wide variety of 4 year degrees to pick from.  SDSU offers the broadest and most competitive academic program in the state with more than 200 majors, minors, and specializations.  For more information visit our main website at http://www.sdstate.edu/.
