Endless Opportunities to Get Involved
How do you make the most of your college experience? Current students and alumni say it straight forward, "Get involved." Through involvement in clubs and organizations, competitive teams, research, study abroad, and much more, students in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences establish lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, gain a better understanding of their profession, make a difference in communities, and strengthen their résumé for future employment.
Travel Abroad
College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences students can travel to locations such as Africa, Argentina, Australia, China and England to expand their horizons and broaden their perspectives. We offer an ABS 482-582 International experience course, in addition to study-abroad and student-exchange programs.
Undergraduate Research
Whatever your interest, undergraduate research means hands-on experience, working with faculty mentors and graduate students, scholarships, and opportunities to publish and present at professional meetings. Such experience is invaluable preparation for employment and graduate or professional school.
Internships
Career-related professional experiences are important components of a quality college education. Many internships pay students just like a part-time job, and academic credit can be arranged for approved experiences. Apply your classroom knowledge to the real world, enhance your career network, and build your résumé with valuable experiences.
Competitive Teams
Being on competitive teams is another way to get involved. Award winning, competitive student teams in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences include: Crops, Dairy Cattle, Dairy Products, Floral, Livestock, Meats, Range, Soils and Wool. More than 30 student organizations provide the opportunity to expand your classroom experience. Block and Bridle, Collegiate 4-H and Wildlife and Fisheries Conservation Club are just the beginning. SDSU's Rodeo Team, which is affiliated with the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, is another place to get involved.
