    5. Regularly evaluate the climate at South Dakota State University as experienced by faculty, staff and students, and communicate and respond with actionable strategies.
  2. Grow the university’s external engagement through extension, collaborative service, community outreach, alumni relations and public-private partnerships that enhance the quality of life in South Dakota and beyond.
    1. Ensure that communities have a voice in defining the university’s external engagement activities.
    2. Align academic and outreach programming across the university to optimize institutional efforts to support tribal communities and underserved populations.
    3. Increase engagement with K-12 schools at the local, state and national levels.

The art of philanthropy | Dickerson estate funds South Dakota Art Museum

What started as a deep appreciation of the arts has led to one family’s multigenerational legacy of generosity at South Dakota State University. Following the passing of 1951 alum Barbara Revell Dickerson, the SDSU Foundation learned of an estate gift that would make history for the university. Barbara’s legacy would provide $2.6 million for scholarships at SDSU, the second-largest endowment for scholarships ever created at State.

SDSU accounts for 45% of Board of Regents' overall economic impact

South Dakota State University accounts for 45% of the overall economic impact of public higher education in South Dakota, according to a study recently released by the South Dakota Board of Regents using FY19 data. The six degree-granting regental institutions and the BOR office produce an annual economic impact of $2.1 billion, while sustaining more than 12,000 jobs.

HRSA project focuses on recovery from meth addiction

Putting people addicted to meth on the road to recovery is the goal of the Stigma, Treatment, Avoidance and Recovery in Time Program for Psychostimulant Support in Rural South Dakota.
