Anand received the North Central Region for 2021 Excellence in College and University Teaching Awards for Food and Agricultural Sciences by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. He receives $2,000 to be used for improving teaching at SDSU.
Profilet and DeJong Family Fund First Endowed Position in SDSU’s College of Education and Human Sciences
Through the generosity of two South Dakota State University alumni, the university has established its first endowed faculty position in the College of Education and Human Sciences. The Tate Profilet and Mary DeJong Family Endowed Director of Early Childhood Education was formalized at an Oct. 22 investiture ceremony, paving the way for a new era of the early childhood education program at State.
SDSU ranked No. 5 in best value colleges of international students ranking
South Dakota State University climbed two spots to No. 5 in College Factual’s Best Value Colleges for International Students ranking. This ranking is out of 1,204 colleges in the U.S. that offer four-year degrees.
GradReports ranks SDSU No. 1 for public South Dakota universities
South Dakota State University was the top-ranked public institution in GradReports’ 2021 Best Colleges in South Dakota by Salary Score. In addition, SDSU’s 52.31 Salary Score is higher than the median for all U.S. colleges.
SDSU moving forward to offer bachelor's degree in concrete industry management
South Dakota State University’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering will soon offer a bachelor’s degree in concrete industry management. The degree announcement comes after the CIM National Steering Committee and the North Central Region patrons selected SDSU after an approximate six-month selection process.
University Aviation Association honors Christensen
Cody Christensen, an associate professor at South Dakota State University, received the V.L. Laursen Award at the University Aviation Association’s 73rd Annual Education Conference held virtually in October. Christensen, who has led the SDSU aviation program since 2014, is the first one from SDSU to receive an award from the UAA.
APLU honors Uilk for teaching excellence
Nicholas Uilk, an instructor in South Dakota State University’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, has been named a recipient of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities national teaching awards in recognizing excellence in agricultural sciences teaching and student engagement.
