At South Dakota State University, we offer three undergraduate degrees in music: a Bachelor of Music Education (BME), Bachelor of Arts in Music Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Music Entrepreneurship.
The BME degree prepares the student to become a music teacher at the secondary level. Our BME alumni have gone on to become successful band, choir and orchestra directors at the elementary, junior high and high school levels.
The BA in Music Studies is a more general and flexible degree. Music Studies students often use it as a performance degree to hone their performance skills on an instrument or voice. Double majors will often choose this route.
The BA in Music Entrepreneurship degree is designed for students wanting to enter the music industry and purse a career in areas such as sales, facilities management, arts administration, event production and arts marketing.
