What motivated you to choose a career in nursing: My mother was an incredible influence for me to pursue nursing as a career. As a nurse herself, in many different areas including rural, pediatric trauma, emergency room and more, she instilled in me her passion for the profession.

Why did you choose SDSU to pursue your nursing degree: South Dakota State University has an excellent nursing program and professors that set you up for success when you graduate and start practicing on your own.

What clinical experience have you enjoyed the most and why: I enjoyed my pediatric clinical at Avera because I have a passion for working with kids and their families.

Organizations that you are involved in: I am involved in Jacks for Life and FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students).

Is there a particular field of nursing you are planning to pursue: Pediatrics.

What is your big dream: My future goal for my nursing career is to be a pediatric nurse and take care of children, adolescents and their families.

What advice would you share with a future nursing student: You can not only make it through nursing school, but SDSU can help you to be the best nurse you can be. Take it one day at a time, study hard and remember to do activities and build relationships that give you life.
