Isabelle May Little Weeks (1851-1907) was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, moved to Dakota Territory in 1872 and died in Yankton, South Dakota. She was one of the earliest trained artists working in the state and maintained a studio in her home throughout her life. Weeks belongs to an important group of early female artists working in South Dakota, including Ada B. Caldwell, Myra Morton Miller, the French sisters Grace and Abbie, Laura Rodgers and L. Lova Jones.
