To be eligible for Upward Bound, students must:
- be a 9th or 10th grade student enrolled at one of the following high schools:
- Flandreau High School (Flandreau, SD)
- Flandreau Indian School (Flandreau, SD)
- Roosevelt High School (Sioux Falls, SD)
- Washington High School (Sioux Falls, SD)
- meet the family income guidelines established by the federal government and/or be a potential first-generation college student (neither parent has a four-year college degree)
- complete the application package (including the requested forms) and an interview with Upward Bound staff
- be committed to attending post-secondary education
- demonstrate a willingness and desire to actively participate in all program activities
